Why “let's pretend” matters
Pretend play is where everything on this journey comes together — requests, questions, describing words and stories, all flowing inside one make-believe world. When your child gives a teddy a voice, they're practicing conversation from both sides at once. Children who pretend richly are rehearsing the exact language of friendships: negotiating roles, explaining ideas and imagining out loud. This is the last kit — and the play that never gets old.
How to teach it — 4 simple steps

Join their scene as a character, not a director: knock on the play house door and ask 'Is anybody home?'

Give the figures problems to solve out loud: 'Oh no, the table is broken! Who can fix it?'

Let your child run the show — take orders at their café, be the patient at their hospital. Following THEIR script builds the longest sentences.

Stretch the story gently: 'And then what happens?' is the only prompt you'll ever need.
