Why “my turn” matters
Conversation IS turn-taking — I talk, you talk, I talk. Children who practice taking turns in play are literally rehearsing the rhythm of conversation. 'My turn' and 'your turn' also happen to be the keys to kindergarten friendships. These three toys make turns visible, fair and fun to wait for.
How to teach it — 4 simple steps

Make turns short and snappy — one sword, one quill, one bead — so waiting is easy.

Tap your chest saying 'MY turn', tap theirs for 'YOUR turn'. Gesture + word together.

Occasionally 'forget' whose turn it is — the urge to claim 'MY TURN!' is irresistible.

Praise the waiting, not just the words: turn-taking patience is a language skill too.
